The Daring Bakers’ April 2012 challenge, hosted by Jason at Daily Candor, were 
two Armenian standards: nazook and nutmeg cake. Nazook is a layered yeasted

It was already starting to melt when we were there, though they boys had fun sledding and making snow angels. On the way back down the mountain I saw these and just had to have a picture. They were just to neat looking. Just like someone had come and purposely dragged the snow down making curls.

Much like a lava cake would be. They were really good though if i were to make them again I would under bake them and use less bittersweet chocolate. This was taken last week as Kenzie will be 8 weeks tomorrow. She is doing wonderful, and growing way to fast. We are still working on potty training, but I am sure she'll get it eventually. We started leash training this weekend. She does pretty well, though when she doesn't want to go she just sits down and looks at you. Very cute, but not a good habit to get into.

This year C was able to participate in the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's (ODFW) mentoring program. It is a great program that allows youth ages 9-13 to go out with a licensed adult and hunt. The youth is able to use the adults tag to harvest an animal. It's a chocolate cake with a hazelnut filling and then topped with a rich chocolate frosting. ﻿

I've made pumpkin roll every year so this cake was pretty simple to make. You just need to make sure you have the timing down right. I made the hazelnut filling the day before and while the cake was cooling I made the chocolate ganach.

I can say that I posted something each and every day. While I didn't participate as they probably would have liked me to I still did it. 

I'm not sure how much I will be here from this point on, I will still be doing my baking challenges each month so you will see me on the 20th and 27th. I might even stop by once a week. 5 years ago this morning, my parents shop burnt down. It started with the travel trailer and spread through the rest of the shop before it could be stopped. We are fortunate that it was just "equipment" and  "stuff", but the stuff that we lost held tactile memories and there were things in the shop that cannot be replaced. I was busy yesterday, so today you get this.

2. J played hookie yesterday, the shop had nothing on the books, and no one called so we went and did a bit of black Friday shopping. I came home with a new phone (needed it anyway) and a Christmas wreath. We're big spenders. 

3. Christmas lights and most of the decorations are up.
